Lots of fun in this very creative canvas-based game.
I'm totally in love with this game. The gameplay is both simple and addictive, and while the graphics are primarily just white boxes and other simple shapes on a black background, they fit the game perfectly.
In 3bored, you're a little white rectangle equipped with "amazing flying powers and the ability to crash into the ground". Your opponents are tanks, planes and orbital satellites who all just want to see you dead. The enemies are all packing a lot of firepower and all you can do is crash yourself into the ground (hold the space bar to charge), smashing things on your way and creating shockwaves.
Unless you have a powerful computer, you are advised to run the game at a reduced size (just resize the browser window and reload the page). And if you need help figuring everything out, check the informative help page.

Amoeba
Being just old enough to remember a time before graphical computer games, ASCII games like this fun little roguelike survival game always bring back fond memories.

From the website: "The goal of the game is to eat weaker amoebas while running away from stronger ones. When you eat a weaker amoeba you gain a level. If a stronger amoeba eats you, you die. You win by gaining level 10."
In this alternative dungeon crawl you control an amoeba, represented by a @, and on the map are other amoebas represented by numbers from 1-9 which signifies their level. You move around with the arrow keys / numerical pad and with every move, the enemy amoebas move as well, resembling Rogue like gameplay.
There's obviously not a lot to say about the technical details concerning the graphical side of this game as everything is just text.
There is also an alternative, real time version available.

This is a fun little battle game inspired by the battle system in Final Fantasy and using graphics borrowed from one of the countless iterations of this franchise.
You start out by selecting which enemy you want to fight, but since you're just asked for a number between 1 and 18, with no indication of what they correspond to, you might as well just choose the "random enemy" option.
Once you're in the battle, you click the "Fight", "Magic" and "Tech" buttons to use one of the many tools available to you in order to win the fight. Quite fun, even if it doesn't last very long.

Stack the Log!
Try to stack the logs directly on top of each other in this game of fast reactions.
Try to stack the logs directly on top of each other in this game of fast reactions.
The goal in this game by XWUZ is to stack the constantly moving logs as accurately as you can. The more errors in your stacking, the faster the logs get shorter and shorter and eventually the game is over.
I'm not sure how to categorize this genrewise, but it's a pretty neat concept and I can see how it can be addicting for a short while. Personally, I think it gets old pretty quick, though. If you're into tricky games that require reactions, then you should definitely give it a try.
The game is pretty and like other games from XWUZ, Stack the Log! is a game made for the iPhone, which is also evident from the small game screen. However, it is made with basic DHTML techniques and should run in any browser.

Scorched Earth
While not as full featured as its old shareware namesake, this is a nice little artillery game that makes for some good 2 player fun.

Firing your cannon is completely mouse based and works by clicking in the "aim" graphic at the top, where angle and power is calculated based on where you click the mouse.

div elements and image elements with slope graphics. The images are stretched vertically to provide different slopes and elevations. An animated GIF takes care of the explosion effects. Like some of his other games, Scorched Earth uses Nederlof's own old Beehive I library.
